Morning Walk in the IBM Glen with Julian Shepherd
July 3 at 9 AM
Midsummer is a time when tree shade is deep, birds are busy feeding young, and butterflies are most active. Join Julian Shepherd at the IBM Glen, Robinson Hill Road, Endwell, to tour the Glen and see what's happening and maybe find a few bird homes. Julian Shepherd is a professor of biological sciences at Binghamton University. Bring the whole family for new discoveries in the Glen.
To register, call 625-2221. Children welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. $3.00/members, $4.00/non-members, $1.00 for children.
Please wear sturdy shoes. The hikes are hilly so you might want to bring a hiking stick.
Dogs are not allowed at hikes.
Several Nature booklets about the IBM Glen and the Serenity Trail at Waterman can be purchased for $1.00 and $2.00 each at these nature walks.
Directions: Drive north on Robinson Hill Rd. from Country Club Rd. in Endwell for 1.2 miles. Look for green entrance gate on the right hand side of the road. The parking lot is a short distance beyond the gate.

Classes and Field Trips for Butterflies and Moths
Join naturalist Colleen Wolpert on her Butterfly Walks and observe butterflies in their natural habitat. Colleen will also point out caterpillars and host plants where butterflies can be seen. Along the way, Colleen will help you develop your butterfly watching skills. All levels of interest are invited to come. Bring along a guide book if you have one. You can never be sure of what you will encounter.
The cost is $2 for members of Waterman Center, $3 for non-members and $1.00 for children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. These walks will proceed weather permitting. Call the Center for more information and to let us know if you will be attending a specific walk.
Because of the nature of this type of observing, walks have been scheduled when certain species emerge. More information will be available as the season progresses. Luna Moths begin to emerge in late May and early June. Moth events will be scheduled once it is determined that they are successfully emerging.
In late June, call the Center for possible Butterfly Walks in the Binghamton University Nature Preserve, at Wolfe Park and in Upper Lisle.
