Waterman's Nature Education Camp

Nature Camp is a structured, educational camp where campers will engage with nature through experiments, assignments, crafts, games, and presentations. An established interest or passion for learning nature, science, and the outdoors are strongly encouraged. Campers will hike, explore, and get wet and or dirty on a regular basis.
Applications MUST be accompanied by current immunization records for each child. Due to limited space, applications without legible immunization records or otherwise incomplete will not be considered.

3 weeks of nature-themed educational fun for your child
*Please note age changes* Ages: 8-11 (no exceptions)
Time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Early drop-off (8:30 am to 9:00 am) and
late pick-up (3:00 pm to 4:00 pm), are available for additional fees
Place: Waterman Center at 403 Hilton Rd
Pre-registration: Mandatory for any and all weeks
Fee: $140 per week for Waterman Center members, and $160 per week for non-members
Due to limited space, applications without payment, missing immunization records or otherwise incomplete will not be considered

2020 Lesson Plan
Week One: - Sense of Wonder - how can we use our senses to study the environment? How do wildlife use their senses to survive? How do you ask scientific questions?
Week Two: - Network of Life - how are we all connected by the water cycle? Learn about the importance of water quality and watersheds to people and animals. Conduct experiments on H2O quality. Study weather patterns and learn what creates our climate.
Week Three: - We've got Chemistry - learn about the chemistry of life. What is DNA, where is it found, and why is it so important? Useful Chemistry, Acids, Bases, and soap making. Soil Chemistry and microenvironments. Salt and soil road salt experiment with bean plant tolerance. (Please note: children will have no direct interaction with chemicals)
