About the event
The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming - it's spring at the Apalachin Marsh!
Join naturalist Michelle to learn about the many birds and blooms of our Apalachin Marsh preserve. We will look and listen for recently-returned spring migrant birds such as Gray Catbird, Tree Swallow, Warbling Vireo and Baltimore Oriole. We will also be observing many beautiful spring ephemeral wildflowers such as Starflower, Violets, Bellwort and Canada Mayflower.
Sturdy footwear is recommended, as trails may be muddy. Binoculars are recommended but not required, as we will be birding both by sight and by ear as well as observing plants.
Registration is required and limited to 15 participants.
Carpooling is highly recommended, as parking is limited at this location.
Location information:
The Apalachin Marsh parking area is a gravel pullout off of the Westbound lane of NY Rt. 434, around half a mile from the turnoff to Hilton Road. There is a small green Tioga Trails sign on the fence where the trail begins. The location is marked on Google Maps, but not on Apple Maps.
$5/person for non-members and FREE for Waterman Center members.
